New Market (Hogg Market)
Opened on 1 January 1874 as a covered Victorian market for the city's Europeans and renamed after municipal chairman Sir Stuart Hogg in 1903; its Gothic clock tower was shipped from Huddersfield. It now sells everything from cheese to saris, with Nahoum's bakery inside.
Closed Sundays. Ignore the porters and touts who attach themselves at the entrance — you don't need a guide. Pair it with a roll at Nizam's next door.
